My response to McKinnon’s article:
Mark, you're nuts!
I've said this before and I'll say it again... get a billionaire to offer to build the most magnificent mosque in the world in a Manhattan location a thousand times more exquisite than the choice they've already picked, which is on the dead bodies of innocent Americans - and have the billionaire offer to pay for everything and assure the Muslims that the project will be done more quickly than they can do it themselves with a result that will be both award winning and the envy of the world... and they will flat out tell you "NO!" - why? Because this is NOT about the rights of Muslims in America to build a mosque or anything else, it is not about Muslims having equal rights as everyone else - it is not about prejudice against Muslims - it is about a blatant deliberate slap in the faces of every American and especially the heroes and victims of 9/11... they do not want a new mosque. They want a new mosque on the dead bodies of the American innocents they killed so they can laugh in the faces of the insanely-politically-correct, as well as all Americans! How blind are the insanely-politically-correct radical leftists in this country? How can anyone not see that. What is wrong with you ?!
And you praise the president as he begins his waffling...
This is just another example of the worst president in the history of the presidency!

President Obama: In decline? (Photo: AFP)
The last few weeks have been a nightmare for President Obama, in a summer of discontent in the United States which has deeply unsettled the ruling liberal elites, so much so that even the Left has begun to turn against the White House. While the anti-establishment Tea Party movement has gained significant ground and is now a rising and powerful political force to be reckoned with, many of the president’s own supporters as well as independents are rapidly losing faith in Barack Obama, with open warfare breaking out between the White House and the left-wing of the Democratic Party. While conservatism in America grows stronger by the day, the forces of liberalism are growing increasingly weaker and divided.
Against this backdrop, the president’s approval ratings have been sliding dramatically all summer, with the latest Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll of US voters dropping to minus 22 points, the lowest point so far for Barack Obama since taking office. While just 24 per cent of American voters strongly approve of the president’s job performance, almost twice that number, 46 per cent, strongly disapprove. According to Rasmussen, 65 per cent of voters believe the United States is going down the wrong track, including 70 per cent of independents.
The RealClearPolitics average of polls now has President Obama at over 50 per cent disapproval, a remarkably high figure for a president just 18 months into his first term. Strikingly, the latest USA Today/Gallup survey has the President on just 41 per cent approval, with 53 per cent disapproving.

There are an array of reasons behind the stunning decline and political fall of President Obama, chief among them fears over the current state of the US economy, with widespread concern over high levels of unemployment, the unstable housing market, and above all the towering budget deficit. Americans are increasingly rejecting President Obama’s big government solutions to America’s economic woes, which many fear will lead to the United States sharing the same fate as Greece.
Growing disillusionment with the Obama administration’s handling of the economy as well as health care and immigration has gone hand in hand with mounting unhappiness with the President’s aloof and imperial style of leadership, and a growing perception that he is out of touch with ordinary Americans, especially at a time of significant economic pain. Barack Obama’s striking absence of natural leadership ability (and blatant lack of experience) has played a big part in undermining his credibility with the US public, with his lacklustre handling of the Gulf oil spill coming under particularly intense fire.
On the national security and foreign policy front, President Obama has not fared any better. His leadership on the war in Afghanistan has been confused and at times lacking in conviction, and seemingly dictated by domestic political priorities rather than military and strategic goals. His overall foreign policy has been an appalling mess, with his flawed strategy of engagement of hostile regimes spectacularly backfiring. And as for the War on Terror, his administration has not even acknowledged it is fighting one.
Can it get any worse for President Obama? Undoubtedly yes. Here are 10 key reasons why the Obama presidency is in serious trouble, and why its prospects are unlikely to improve between now and the November mid-terms.
1. The Obama presidency is out of touch with the American people
In a previous post I noted how the Obama presidency increasingly resembles a modern-day Ancien Régime, extravagant, decaying and out of touch with ordinary Americans. The First Lady’s ill-conceived trip to Spain at a time of widespread economic hardship was symbolic of a White House that barely gives a second thought to public opinion on many issues, and frequently projects a distinctly elitist image. The “let them eat cake” approach didn’t play well over two centuries ago, and it won’t succeed today.
2. Most Americans don’t have confidence in the president’s leadership
This deficit of trust in Obama’s leadership is central to his decline. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, “nearly six in ten voters say they lack faith in the president to make the right decisions for the country”, and two thirds “say they are disillusioned with or angry about the way the federal government is working.” The poll showed that a staggering 58 per cent of Americans say they do not have confidence in the president’s decision-making, with just 42 per cent saying they do.
3. Obama fails to inspire
In contrast to the soaring rhetoric of his 2004 Convention speech in Boston which succeeded in impressing millions of television viewers at the time, America is no longer inspired by Barack Obama’s flat, monotonous and often dull presidential speeches and statements delivered via teleprompter. From his extraordinarily uninspiring Afghanistan speech at West Point to his flat State of the Union address, President Obama has failed to touch the heart of America. Even Jimmy Carter was more moving.
4. The United States is drowning in debt
The Congressional Budget Office Long-Term Budget Outlook offers a frightening picture of the scale of America’s national debt. Under its alternative fiscal scenario, the CBO projects that US debt could rise to 87 percent of GDP by 2020, 109 percent by 2025, and 185 percent in 2035. While much of Europe, led by Britain and Germany, are aggressively cutting their deficits, the Obama administration is actively growing America’s debt, and has no plan in place to avert a looming Greek-style financial crisis.
5. Obama’s Big Government message is falling flat
The relentless emphasis on bailouts and stimulus spending has done little to spur economic growth or create jobs, but has greatly advanced the power of the federal government in America. This is not an approach that is proving popular with the American public, and even most European governments have long ditched this tax and spend approach to saving their own economies.
6. Obama’s support for socialised health care is a huge political mistake
In an extraordinary act of political Harakiri, President Obama leant his full support to the hugely controversial, unpopular and divisive health care reform bill, with a monstrous price tag of $940 billion, whose repeal is now supported by 55 per cent of likely US voters. As I wrote at the time of its passing, the legislation is “a great leap forward by the United States towards a European-style vision of universal health care, which will only lead to soaring costs, higher taxes, and a surge in red tape for small businesses. This reckless legislation dramatically expands the power of the state over the lives of individuals, and could not be further from the vision of America’s founding fathers.”
7. Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil spill has been weak-kneed and indecisive
While much of the spilled oil in the Gulf has now been thankfully cleared up, the political damage for the White House will be long-lasting. Instead of showing real leadership on the matter by acing decisively and drawing upon offers of international support, the Obama administration settled on a more convenient strategy of relentlessly bashing an Anglo-American company while largely sitting on its hands. Significantly, a poll of Louisiana voters gave George W. Bush higher marks for his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with 62 percent disapproving of Obama’s performance on the Gulf oil spill.
8. US foreign policy is an embarrassing mess under the Obama administration
It is hard to think of a single foreign policy success for the Obama administration, but there have been plenty of missteps which have weakened American global power as well as the standing of the United States. The surrender to Moscow on Third Site missile defence, the failure to aggressively stand up to Iran’s nuclear programme, the decision to side with ousted Marxists in Honduras, the slap in the face for Great Britain over the Falklands, have all contributed to the image of a US administration completely out of its depth in international affairs. The Obama administration’s high risk strategy of appeasing America’s enemies while kicking traditional US allies has only succeeded in weakening the United States while strengthening her adversaries.
9. President Obama is muddled and confused on national security
From the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to the War on Terror, President Obama’s leadership has often been muddled and confused. On Afghanistan he rightly sent tens of thousands of additional troops to the battlefield. At the same time however he bizarrely announced a timetable for the withdrawal of US forces beginning in July 2011, handing the initiative to the Taliban. On Iraq he has announced an end to combat operations and the withdrawal of all but 50,000 troops despite a recent upsurge in terrorist violence and political instability, and without the Iraqi military and police ready to take over. In addition he has ditched the concept of a War on Terror, replacing it with an Overseas Contingency Operation, hardly the right message to send in the midst of a long-war against Al-Qaeda.
10. Obama doesn’t believe in American greatness
Barack Obama has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism, and has made apologising for his country into an art form. In a speech to the United Nations last September he stated that “no one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold.” It is difficult to see how a US president who holds these views and does not even accept America’s greatness in history can actually lead the world’s only superpower with force and conviction.
There is a distinctly Titanic-like feel to the Obama presidency and it’s not hard to see why. The most left-wing president in modern American history has tried to force a highly interventionist, government-driven agenda that runs counter to the principles of free enterprise, individual freedom, and limited government that have made the United States the greatest power in the world, and the freest nation on earth.
This, combined with weak leadership both at home and abroad against the backdrop of tremendous economic uncertainty in an increasingly dangerous world, has contributed to a spectacular political collapse for a president once thought to be invincible. America at its core remains a deeply conservative nation, which cherishes its traditions and founding principles. President Obama is increasingly out of step with the American people, by advancing policies that undermine the United States as a global power, while undercutting America’s deep-seated love for freedom.

A lyrical prayer for Lindsay Lohan:
God Bless The Child (Lyrics)
Billie Holiday / Arthur Herzog Jr.
Them that's got shall get
Them that's not shall lose
So the Bible said and it still is news
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
Yes, the strong gets more
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don't ever make the grade
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
Money, you've got lots of friends
Crowding round the door
When you're gone, spending ends
They don't come no more
Rich relations give
Crust of bread and such
You can help yourself
But don't take too much
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
He just worry 'bout nothin'
Cause he's got his own

Remember the difference between a boss and a leader; a boss says "Go!" - a leader says "Let's go!" ~E.M. Kelly
Obama’s approval ratings are down for a number of reasons:
*Jobs*
Obama, his administration, and DC in general have done virtually nothing to make more jobs available to the average American worker. Where do 80% of jobs come from? – SMALL BUSINESS. Obama hates business, especially small business. Virtually everything DC has done in the past 18 months has made it much harder to be a small businessman and made it all but impossible to open a new small business. Small business is a precarious thing, and on any given year many businesses are born and many die. In the past 18 months many businesses have died, much more than a typical year – but very few have been born, because DC makes it very hard to open and run a new small business. They make it harder EVERY year. DC has also let the middle-American economy stagnate, which is death to small business. DC has been glad-handing and heaping help onto their cronies… while they literally laugh over Filet mignon about the plight of small middle-America business. The web-media phenomenon means middle Americans get to find out about this corruption via means other than the “bought and well greased major media”, whose significance, power, and prestige are plummeting, even though the power-elite are taking very good care of those in the media who are good obedient puppets.
*Real Estate*
Historically the one way middle-America could get a bit ahead was by owning real estate, at least one home and perhaps eventually investment real estate. That dream is dead. That avenue is blocked for the foreseeable future. We have all seen the videos and read the books and articles about the real estate scam being perpetrated by the power-elite. Insiders move from government regulation jobs, to private sector jobs and back and forth over the years building their network of insiders. When it is their turn to be on the government regulator side they “take care of” their cronies in the private sector – when it is their turn to be insiders in the private sector, their cronies who have recently flipped over to the government regulation side in turn, take care of them. This flip-flop between government insider and private sector insider continues throughout their career until they retire as members of the elite 5% wealthiest insiders. It is virtually impossible to get into this game without rock solid connections. It is even more impossible to get information out of this power-elite under any circumstances.
Check out what Obama has done for his cronies within this power-elite and know that just like the five most recent past presidents did – he will have a gold mine waiting for him when he returns to the private sector.
Generally past-presidents net worth goes up by 100% to 5000% within five years after they leave the presidency. That doesn’t happen by accident. Again, the web-media phenomenon means middle Americans are forced to find out about this corruption via means other than the “bought and well greased major media”.
*Broken promises*
We all remember the exciting promises of the Obama YES WE CAN campaign of change we can believe in. Let’s put an end to the partisan bickering down in DC, he proclaimed. DC is broken. We need to shake ‘em up down there. We need a new era. That’s what Obama said. We will provide a new way for the DC crowd to operate for the good of the American people.
What he failed to mention was how neck deep he was in the century-old big business of CHICAGO politics as usual. Chicago politics, as we have all come to know, makes DC look like a bunch of naïve boy scouts earning merit badges for good deeds to the country!
What Obama replaced same-ol’ same-ol’ DC politics with was the much more vitriolic poisons of classic Chicago politics. America is suffering the consequences. Middle-American is suffering the consequences. You and I are suffering the consequences. This new hyper-cronyism mentioned above under Real Estate is much deeper than just the type practiced in the universal insider real estate cronyism sector. Obama-cronyism is everywhere all the time. Be a good do-bee and get your share. Slip up and fall off the crony-wagon and disappear both literally and figuratively. Insiders prosper infinitely. Outsiders, no matter how strong they appear on the surface, cannot break into the insider back-room.
There is no breaking up this shadow world. They have it down to a specialized science that would boggle your mind if you were privy to how it works and how powerful it is. By way of clarification: Obama is only a “middle-manager” within this shadow corporation. He is just another marionette having his strings pulled by the Shadow Elite who we all have heard are running this country. It is not an exaggeration. In fact they are running a much larger expanse than just this country. They are in control of a very large portion of the world – at least that portion where the real power is hidden. Only tiny glimpses of this web can be seen by viewing the non-major media. This secret is much better guarded than the jobs and real estate games, because this is the core of their power. The Code of Silence here is much more well kept than the old 20’s Chicago Mob code of silence could ever hope to be.
So, these are the three major reasons for Obama’s crumbling legacy as well as his falling ratings with middle-America. *JOBS, REAL ESTATE, NO WE CAN’T.*
He doesn’t seem to care, does he? He doesn’t seem to care for a reason. He’s not beholding to middle-America. He is beholding to that shadow-elite I describe above. Once he has served his purpose for them, he will find himself up to his neck in gold. One term or two, his real goal will have been achieved. He marches to his own beat not because he is out of touch with the American voter. He marches to the beat assigned to him. He will keep marching. He will win the reward he set out to win. The presidency was just a step along the way.
Once Obama’s turn is over we will have a puppet from the right in the presidency, then a puppet from the left, then from the right, then the left, the right, etc. Just as it has been for at least the last 100 years. And we foolishly still think we have a say in the running of the country. No we don’t.
*Jobs*

First ask yourself: What is the worst that can happen? Then prepare to accept it. Then proceed to improve on the worst. ~~ Dale Carnegie
The proof of how broken prime time network TV is – is that the brain-trust (and I use the term ‘brain’ with trepidation) at NBC is still intact after the last two dozen ‘innovative’ ideas they tried, turned out to be disasters… disasters that any viewer, and I mean ANY viewer, could have told them would not work! They still have their jobs, people! Can you believe it?
The Only Plausible Answer
Science is always absolutely certain they have come up with “the only plausible answer”. Science is always changing their minds, and absolutely certain the NEW resulting answer is “the only plausible answer”. Note also they never say that the answer we had come up with last time was absolutely wrong. They conveniently get amnesia about the last prior answer while trumpeting the “fact” that their latest greatest newest theory is certainly true and is “the only plausible answer”.
Rest assured that science will trumpet many other “only plausible answers” on many other topics this year and every year. Answers that totally refute the prior “only plausible answer” and nary a whisper will be heard acknowledging the other side of the coin: if this truly IS “the only plausible answer” then we were wrong when we announced with absolute certainty that last time was “the only plausible answer”.
Science: always certain, rarely right, never acknowledging the upshot that consequently yesterday’s answer was in error.

The republican party is broken, the democratic party is broken, the independent party is broken, the tea party is broken, the coffee party is broken, the conservative party is broken, the liberal party is broken, the progressive party is broken, the socialist party is broken, the pajama party is broken, the margarita party is broken, all of Washington DC is broken, as are the local, county, and state parties of all persuasions.
ALL incumbents must go. ALL! Vote in rookies and do not allow them to stay for more than two terms. Keep booting out everyone until they get it: “The American voter is mad as h**l and is not gonna take it anymore!!”

Not One Job
There is zero proof that the president has saved or created one single job in his first year plus.
Not one single job created, or saved. Not one.
Let me repeat, President Barack H. Obama has not created one job.
Let me repeat, President Barack H. Obama has not saved one job.
President Barack H. Obama has not done a good, or even decent job.
Why did I vote for President Barack H. Obama? As it turned out:
Because he was a good public speaker and sounded different.
Because he made me believe he would do me good.
He was and is a liar!
He is arrogant, narcissistic, cold, uncaring, lost, and over-matched by the job.
He will not get reelected – so he might just as well leave a positive lasting legacy.
How can he do that? Start doing the job, and spend his final three years in office
doing what all presidents and public servants are expected to do:
Start serving the people, the citizens, the voters. That’s why it is called public service!
Oh, yes, and bipartisanship? Don’t even get me started!!

I have to feel sorry for poor Mr. President. He just cannot seem to get himself out of campaign mode. That is one of many reasons he is such as failure as president. He knows how to really catch us all with one campaign… but that trick is over – if he is a one-trick-pony, someone has to explain that that first-time-around BS campaign does not keep working and working and working… you need to come up with another set of marketing gimmicks and tricks..
• the old outsider gimick does not work twice in a row…
• the old favorite: blame the other guys for everything only works once for each candidate…
• the old ‘progressive’ favorite that the Repub’s are ‘the party of no’ won’t work again
• the totally worn out ‘they just love the rich and kill the middle class’ is dead in the water
• the ‘I’m gonna change Washington’ was a ‘bust’ since he changed Washington to “Chicago” and its most-ugly-politics-in-the-universe style of doing business…
No, we didn’t get ourselves a president – we got ourselves a character assassin for the ages. Unfortunately for Mr. Obama the character he did the most thorough job of assassinating was his own character. Mr. President, please just try to limp through the rest of this rookie-mistake-filled excuse for a first term presidency and then just go quietly into the night without a fight and please close the door and turn out the light on your way out.

Earth to Dina Lohan
Earth to Dina Lohan
Come in please Dina Lohan, can you hear me?!
Lindsay IS a common criminal. She committed a crime and is doing time for the crime she committed. That is criminal and that is common. LINDSAY IS A COMMON CRIMINAL – deal with it.
This is precisely why she is in jail followed by rehab = because you steadfastly refuse to allow her to get in touch with the common, with reality, with real life. Instead you insist on insulating her from how life is supposed to work for common folk or even uncommon folk, which we ALL are!
Get over yourself. You are NOTHING and NOBODY, even when you are trying to live vicariously through your daughter’s success. Lindsay’s success is NOT yours – but her failure is – you invented it, you delivered it, your gawd-awful parenting is why she is in the mess she is in now!

Of course Rep Charles Rangel is upset and disturbed by the outcome of his ethics scandal - he was and is just doing what every member of the federal government in every capacity at every level does as a matter of course - steal the taxpayer blind. The poor guy doesn't understand why he should be called out when they all do it. His question is which snake did he p**s off enough to get bagged when no one else gets bagged for standard operating procedure. And his crimes are chump change compared to the vast majority of criminals, er, um, excuse me - I mean federal employees – especially elected officials.
Ever notice how B. H. Obama always sounds like a high school sophomore trying to emulate a college professor? He tries SO hard to sound professorial and pontificate on his much clearer and more intellegent view of all things.
But it comes down to this: he is/was a specialist. A get-elected specialist. We’ve all seen literally hundreds of them before. Absolutely brilliant at getting themselves elected.
Then we all discover much to our shock, surprise and dismay, that there is nothing but the marketing campaign, that there is nothing under the marketing campaign, that there is nothing after the marketing campaign, nothing new, nothing of value, nothing remotely like change or progress or a refreshingly different and unique perspective – a better perspective than the same old same old Washington DC mantra of blame it on the other guy.
In Obama’s case, the change we were led to believe we could believe in turned out to be a change alright. A change from classic DC idiocracy to classic 1920’s Chicago mob gang warfare; and “you are with us, signing on to our code of silence and corruption – or you’re the enemy, and you will soon be our dead enemy.”
That’s some change. That’s some presidency. Yes we can: see right through it.

Current Frontrunner and The Obama Abyss
I’M GUESSING ROMNEY / BROWN WILL BE THE REPUBLICAN Ticket CANDIDATES IN 2012
I don’t think the party can stand the humiliation of having Palin run again. The ultra-liberal lap-dog press will crucify her even more brutally than they have in the past; just because they will have had more time and resources to find out all about her every move since birth.
Remember: Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000 (at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents.
In addition, she and her family will have had that much more time to make complete fools of themselves all by themselves – as the new “BEVERLY HILLBILLIES”. Expect four ghost-written tell all books from the Wasilla-clan by 2014… followed by the soft sound of them all fading back into the Alaska woodlands to practice procreation full time, living off residuals and movie rights cash.
Romney’s problem is his religion. It ain’t politically correct to bring it up – but it is hanging there like a smoked ham. I do not think he can overcome it in the general election – but more importantly he can’t get to the general election until he overcomes it in the Republican nomination process. I don’t think so. Too bad – right now he has the best shot at winning.
One thought: good strategy would be to dredge out as much talk as possible about his father - George W. Romney was an American businessman and Republican Party politician. He was chairman of American Motors Corporation from 1954 to 1962, the 43rd Governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969, and the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1969 to 1973. He was and still is well regarded in both conservative and Republican circles and we are about to head into the biggest “nostalgia” era in Republican history – yearning for the “good old days” when the country had a future and was not about to fall into the ditch that will be forever known as the Obama Abyss.

Gulf Oil Spill

Gulf Oil Spill:
You are not doing enough. YES, YOU!
This will turn out to be the greatest ecological disaster of all time – man-made, natural, or otherwise.
This will be the greatest ecological disaster of all time. Listen to those words and repeat them. This is not an exaggeration. This is a prediction.
Here is why. There are two problems. The obvious one is what is happening to the Gulf of Mexico. This will expand to the Caribbean and then to the Atlantic. This will actually reach Europe – and sooner than you think. Worse than you think.
Here is the second part of the problem which no one is paying attention to except me. What happens when the oil leaves its current location underground under the ocean? Do you think that the space it vacates just stays vacated? Do you really believe that a void is allowed to stay by the forces of nature? No. Natural forces never allow a vacuum. It is against natural law. The oil now underground will be replaced. It may be by dirt, mud, water, additional oil, or something else. Eventually this unnatural space or void will move to a place that cannot handle it. That will be when the catastrophe of all catastrophes will occur. No one knows what that will be because no one has ever experienced it. This kind of sudden, massive, quick void and filling of said void of this size and speed is unprecedented in history. This will turn out to be the greatest disaster of all time.
Your scientists will pooh-pooh my prediction and using nothing but scientific sounding conjecture will declare everything is fine and I am absolutely wrong. There will be no underground void and surge to fill it. They will behave as if they are absolutely certain – they will be absolutely wrong.

8. Right Concentration
The Noble Eightfold Path describes the way to the end of suffering, as it was laid out by Siddhartha Gautama. It is a practical guideline to ethical and mental development with the goal of freeing the individual from attachments and delusions; and it finally leads to understanding the truth about all things. Together with the Four Noble Truths it constitutes the gist of Buddhism. Great emphasis is put on the practical aspect, because it is only through practice that one can attain a higher level of existence and finally reach Nirvana. The eight aspects of the path are not to be understood as a sequence of single steps, instead they are highly interdependent principles that have to be seen in relationship with each other.
1. Right View
Right view is the beginning and the end of the path, it simply means to see and to understand things as they really are and to realize the Four Noble Truth. As such, right view is the cognitive aspect of wisdom. It means to see things through, to grasp the impermanent and imperfect nature of worldly objects and ideas, and to understand the law of karma and karmic conditioning. Right view is not necessarily an intellectual capacity, just as wisdom is not just a matter of intelligence. Instead, right view is attained, sustained, and enhanced through all capacities of mind. It begins with the intuitive insight that all beings are subject to suffering and it ends with complete understanding of the true nature of all things. Since our view of the world forms our thoughts and our actions, right view yields right thoughts and right actions.
2. Right Intention
While right view refers to the cognitive aspect of wisdom, right intention refers to the volitional aspect, i.e. the kind of mental energy that controls our actions. Right intention can be described best as commitment to ethical and mental self-improvement. Buddha distinguishes three types of right intentions: 1. the intention of renunciation, which means resistance to the pull of desire, 2. the intention of good will, meaning resistance to feelings of anger and aversion, and 3. the intention of harmlessness, meaning not to think or act cruelly, violently, or aggressively, and to develop compassion.
3. Right Speech
Right speech is the first principle of ethical conduct in the eightfold path. Ethical conduct is viewed as a guideline to moral discipline, which supports the other principles of the path. This aspect is not self-sufficient, however, essential, because mental purification can only be achieved through the cultivation of ethical conduct. The importance of speech in the context of Buddhist ethics is obvious: words can break or save lives, make enemies or friends, start war or create peace. Buddha explained right speech as follows: 1. to abstain from false speech, especially not to tell deliberate lies and not to speak deceitfully, 2. to abstain from slanderous speech and not to use words maliciously against others, 3. to abstain from harsh words that offend or hurt others, and 4. to abstain from idle chatter that lacks purpose or depth. Positively phrased, this means to tell the truth, to speak friendly, warm, and gently and to talk only when necessary.
4. Right Action
The second ethical principle, right action, involves the body as natural means of expression, as it refers to deeds that involve bodily actions. Unwholesome actions lead to unsound states of mind, while wholesome actions lead to sound states of mind. Again, the principle is explained in terms of abstinence: right action means 1. to abstain from harming sentient beings, especially to abstain from taking life (including suicide) and doing harm intentionally or delinquently, 2. to abstain from taking what is not given, which includes stealing, robbery, fraud, deceitfulness, and dishonesty, and 3. to abstain from sexual misconduct. Positively formulated, right action means to act kindly and compassionately, to be honest, to respect the belongings of others, and to keep sexual relationships harmless to others. Further details regarding the concrete meaning of right action can be found in the Precepts.
5. Right Livelihood
Right livelihood means that one should earn one's living in a righteous way and that wealth should be gained legally and peacefully. The Buddha mentions four specific activities that harm other beings and that one should avoid for this reason: 1. dealing in weapons, 2. dealing in living beings (including raising animals for slaughter as well as slave trade and prostitution), 3. working in meat production and butchery, and 4. selling intoxicants and poisons, such as alcohol and drugs. Furthermore any other occupation that would violate the principles of right speech and right action should be avoided.
6. Right Effort
Right effort can be seen as a prerequisite for the other principles of the path. Without effort, which is in itself an act of will, nothing can be achieved, whereas misguided effort distracts the mind from its task, and confusion will be the consequence. Mental energy is the force behind right effort; it can occur in either wholesome or unwholesome states. The same type of energy that fuels desire, envy, aggression, and violence can on the other side fuel self-discipline, honesty, benevolence, and kindness. Right effort is detailed in four types of endeavors that rank in ascending order of perfection: 1. to prevent the arising of unarisen unwholesome states, 2. to abandon unwholesome states that have already arisen, 3. to arouse wholesome states that have not yet arisen, and 4. to maintain and perfect wholesome states already arisen.
7. Right Mindfulness
Right mindfulness is the controlled and perfected faculty of cognition. It is the mental ability to see things as they are, with clear consciousness. Usually, the cognitive process begins with an impression induced by perception, or by a thought, but then it does not stay with the mere impression. Instead, we almost always conceptualize sense impressions and thoughts immediately. We interpret them and set them in relation to other thoughts and experiences, which naturally go beyond the facticity of the original impression. The mind then posits concepts, joins concepts into constructs, and weaves those constructs into complex interpretative schemes. All this happens only half consciously, and as a result we often see things obscured. Right mindfulness is anchored in clear perception and it penetrates impressions without getting carried away. Right mindfulness enables us to be aware of the process of conceptualization in a way that we actively observe and control the way our thoughts go. Buddha accounted for this as the four foundations of mindfulness: 1. contemplation of the body, 2. contemplation of feeling (repulsive, attractive, or neutral), 3. contemplation of the state of mind, and 4. contemplation of the phenomena.
8. Right Concentration
The eighth principle of the path, right concentration, refers to the development of a mental force that occurs in natural consciousness, although at a relatively low level of intensity, namely concentration. Concentration in this context is described as one-pointedness of mind, meaning a state where all mental faculties are unified and directed onto one particular object. Right concentration for the purpose of the eightfold path means wholesome concentration, i.e. concentration on wholesome thoughts and actions. The Buddhist method of choice to develop right concentration is through the practice of meditation. The meditating mind focuses on a selected object. It first directs itself onto it, then sustains concentration, and finally intensifies concentration step by step. Through this practice it becomes natural to apply elevated levels concentration also in everyday situations.

SNL is the only show in TV history that is 100% driven by the cast.
SNL is the only show in TV history that is 100% driven by the cast. If the cast is awful the show is awful. If the cast is great the show is great. There is no arguing that. It is also the most difficult show to be a cast member of; with a 100 hour plus work week that can only be survived with the help of coke, speed, and/or whatever else keeps you awake – paranoia? That too, because it was all on your shoulders like with no other job!
Go back and look at the eras you loved and chances are you were laughing at Aykroyd, Belushi, Carvey, Chase, Crystal, Curtin, Fallon, Farley, Ferrell, Fey, Franken, Hammond, Hartman, Kattan, Lovitz, Miller, Murphy, Murray, Myers, Newman, Piscopo, Poehler, Quinn, Radner, Rock, Sandler, or Spade.
The show stinks now because the cast stinks now.
That is 100% on the shoulders of the management of NBC. How many idiotic things has this management team done? {Leno / O’Brien ring a bell?}. The way to improve late night, both on weekends and weekdays, is to literally flush out every single member of upper management at NBC – kind of like firing every single solitary incumbent in Washington DC is what’s needed there! This is the era of Incumbent equals incompetent.
In an era of media moguls with massive misplaced egos and arrogance, and absolutely zero talent, smarts, or good judgment to back it up – the absolute kings of the hill among them are the nit-wits atop the management turd pile at NBC.
Terminate them and problem solved: instantly!

All of Washinton is out of touch with America.
There are three “equal” branches of government in America. All three are clearly equally out of touch with America, the American voter and the citizens of America, voters or not. All three are in need of change. None are listening. All are strident political partisans. All must be removed.
None ‘get’ the constitution. None ‘get’ what American was, is, and will always be about.
Incumbent equals incompetent. Boot out all incumbents the first chance you get. Keep new rookies in for two terms max – then boot them out as well. After two terms in Washington, they all completely forget everything outside Washington.

WHAT AMERICA NEEDS NOW IS AN “I.V.” – INDEPENDENT VOICE
America is in trouble – deep trouble. National Government is on life-support. Nothing gets done in Washington D. C. Nothing will without a sea change
[ http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/312800.html ], and soon.
The people of America are furious. Just as the 1976 movie NETWORK said so succinctly: “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!”
That is the American people, the American voter, speaking - yelling.
Even more loudly than in that movie from 1976:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90ELleCQvew
Washington is not listening. The media are not listening.
Washington is too busy kissing the keister of the 20,000 [not an exaggeration] or so lobbyists currently entrenched in D.C.
The media are too busy listening to, and presenting the mutually radical views of the psycho-left-wing and the psycho-right-wing. A bird with those two wings can’t fly – not even the American eagle.
The left and the right each represent less than 5% of the American public. The remaining 90 + percent that Nixon used to call the “great silent majority” are left with no voice. None.
What we need in the media is the voice of the independent middle; and I’m volunteering. Have a time slot on your radio programming that is pretty dead and going south fast?
I volunteer to fill it with an I.V. for America – The Independent Voice… the moderate voice reflective of the vast vast majority of Americans. “Talk for the rest of us.”
Don’t think it will get ratings? The ratings of the Left are in the sewer. They succeed by sheer numbers – 90% of the media are leftists. FOX gets by far the best ratings for one, and only one simple reason: they are alone. There’s only one of them compared to the vast army-mob from the left. They thrive by default.
But neither extreme could possibly come close in ratings to a venue that reflects and speaks to the 90% now ignored. Give that 90% a voice in the media and they will surly use it. The ratings will follow – and blow away the rest of the current media that only represents the extreme 10%. Represent 90% instead of 5% or 10% - no-brainer!
Sure moderate middle-America has sat silent for a long time and you are within your rights to think that it will continue… unless, of course, you are paying attention.
Does the Tea-party movement get all that buzz and attention from the people because the core leadership are geniuses? Of course not! Most of them can’t put an intelligent sentence together –much less a movement, a party, an organization. But they are thriving. Why? Because despite their mountainous flaws, they reflect something somewhat close to what the American voter thinks. And because the American people are no longer sitting on their hands and observing. They are sick of observing. They are sick of not being represented. They are sick of poor choices in the voting booth. They are sick of poor choices in the media too.
The American people are furious that no one is really seriously doing anything about jobs. Health care? Give me a job – let me worry about my health care!
Too big to fail? How about too big to live? Kill the big bank and let the old fashioned small town bank grow out of the fertilizer left by big bank’s dead carcass.
A bipartisan congress? Simple. Incumbent equals incompetent. Boot out all incumbents. Replace them all with rookies. Think rookies will screw up Washington because they are too wet behind the ears to get it? How can they do any worse than the road-kill we have representing us now? They couldn’t possibly!
Want more topics for discussion? Just ask!
So, again:
I propose “TALK FOR THE REST OF US”. That “I.V.” I spoke of. The INDEPENDENT VOICE that the American people are craving right now. No viewpoints barred. No topic taboo. No radical unscathed. No voter left out. Focus to be on the real majority of the people of America.
I fill that role. I am an independent. I work, dig, explore, and function independently. If you are looking for another “yes man” for the left or the right, I do not fit the role. If you are looking for an “oh yes I can! man” no one is better suited for the job than I am. The politically correct term is ‘assertive’. The accurate term is ‘aggressive’. I am both. I am radically moderate - radically independent.

It’s about Jobs – It’s about Time
It’s about Jobs – It’s about Time
The vast majority of pundits and politicos are dead wrong about the message being sent to Washington by the voters of Massachusetts Tuesday.
The real message is simply this – it’s about jobs! The incumbents, both Democrats AND Republicans, are not doing enough to get the jobless rate down from 10% to 5%. Until the jobless rate reaches 5% again, you will see incumbent after incumbent being defeated or at least frightened by the voters of this country pounding this message into their thick skulls.
The incumbents are battling over health care instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are worrying about illegal immigration instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are bailing out fat cats instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are continuing two wars instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are sweating climate change instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are pushing the greening of energy instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are spending the voters’ grandchildren’s money instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are plunging the country into ever deeper debt instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are watching U.S. jobs go overseas instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are expanding ugly partisan politics instead of getting voters jobs.
The incumbents are growing ever more arrogant (if that is even possible) instead of getting voters jobs.
This is not the Republicans versus the Democrats. This is the Incumbents versus The Voters.
Martha Coakley was a terrible candidate. She was not an incumbent, but she was not the least bit unusual. She and the Democratic Party in Massachusetts assumed this senate seat was hers. It was hers to lose and she did.
Politicians are amazingly unresponsive to the people who vote them in and can - and increasingly do - vote them out. Incumbents – especially multi-term incumbents – continue to demonstrate the shocking viewpoint that the voters just don’t get it; and we will do whatever we choose to do for them because we know better. We are untouchable. If they continue to push what the voters don’t want without paying the least bit of attention to the voters – the incumbents will pay with their own jobs.
Get the American voters jobs or you lose yours!
So the questions that the voters want answered are these:
· Can Washington hear the American voter?
· Will Washington hear the American voter?
· What if anything will they do with the very clear message?
· How long will it take for jobs to move to Job One?
· When will they start listening to the voters desires about health care?
· Just how big will the outsider landslide be in November 2010?
· When – if ever - will Washington politicians finally ‘get it’?

The Arrogance of the Left
The Arrogance of the Left
The shocking plunge of Martha Coakley’s credibility as a candidate in the U.S. Senate contest between Democrat Coakley, the state's attorney general, and Republican Scott Brown, 30-point dark horse underdog challenger in the campaign for the Massachusetts Senate seat vacated upon the death of Ted Kennedy, is proof of the arrogance of the Left in America.
Candidate Coakley lost just slightly more credibility every time she opened her mouth as when she chose not to speak. Her conceit has quickly become legend.
What do you want me to do, shake hands with the crowd in the cold in front of Fenway Park? She asked incredulously, shortly after an NHL hockey game was played there. Fans thought nothing of sitting for hours in the cold to watch a game with few implications. Not nearly as many implications as the shocking arrogance of Coakley’s comment, and her abject lack of interest in communing with the people of Massachusetts.
Schilling is a Yankee fan, misspoke Coakley to an incredulous interviewer in one of dozens of the misguided candidate’s blurts demonstrative of her terminal foot-in-mouth disease. Even Rumpelstiltskin knows Schilling, the retired Red Sox hurler, hisses at the Evil NY Major League Baseball Empire as enthusiastically as any rabid Sox fan in New England.
Yes, Martha “Emelda Marcos” Coakley lost this race equally as much as Scott “pin-up boy” Brown won it with his unceasingly hard work attempting to become better known to the voters. The arrogant Left lost this race as surely as the surging rebound Right won. The vote was as much against Coakley as it was for Brown. It was as much against the elitism of the left as it was in favor of the cynicism of the right.
If three months ago any Massachusetts Republican had told any Democrat that Coakley would plummet as much in the polls as she did – the laughter would still be reverberating from Pittsfield to P-town.
If nine months ago anyone had told anyone that the Obama-Democrats would plummet as much in power, pull, and popularity as the president and his supporters have in under a year – the laughter would still be reverberating throughout the country from Obama’s Hawaii to Kennedy’s compound on the Cape.
Sports are as vital a part of the landscape and character of greater Boston, and all of New England for that matter, as their pride in the fact that several hundred years ago the Tea Party concept was invented here. Coakley has one last chance with the voters of Massachusetts. She can be a good sport in accepting her loss as her own failure. Massachusetts sports fans know failure intimately – much more intimately than they ever came to know candidate Coakley – and that in the end was her greatest failure. She simply didn’t care to share herself with the only people who matter in this unique country – its citizens.
Next will come the post mortems. Pundits from all sides will bounce this result around in the air like a hacky sack. But the real adventure in the purely American sport of politics will be to see several things:
· What will the Republicans do with this exhilarating win?
· How long and how high will their rise be?
· How soon will they screw up the opportunity?
· Just how soon will the ferris wheel find the opposing parties curling back around again?
· And at what point will we all be saying “Here we go again”?
